Greetings and welcome to the 2024 school year!
I would like to open by extending a warm welcome to all our families at College and I look forward to getting to know you as the year progresses.
As with each new year, it is an opportunity for a new start and with that comes a hope and an anticipation of new beginnings. Indeed, the College motto Quae Supra Quaere – to seek the things that are above – resonates with the notion of beginning a new chapter in your story and being part of another chapter in this College’s over 130-year history.
In 2024, that new chapter offers new opportunities to be an integral part of College life at ߺ. To that end, we will encourage your sons and daughters to be the best version of themselves. We will also encourage them to share their gifts with the community so that we can continue to be a place where our students succeed, a place that sets the highest standards, but most importantly, a place which welcomes all who enter our gates.
Our Marist schools are founded upon the five characteristics of presence, simplicity, family spirit, love of work, and in the way of Mary and these values underpin the culture of ߺ College and its approach to learning and teaching. We seek to develop young men and women to be active and global citizens within and beyond our communities; citizens who will make a positive difference to the communities into which they will enter.
As such, our vertically structured Learning Mentor Groups continue to provide great support to students and families. Knowing one key staff member who know your child and your family more intimately over the course of your journey at ߺ College is of tremendous benefit, ensuring support remains constant from year to year. In this way relationships have the opportunity to mature and deepen as your child grows.
The ongoing improvement of learning experiences in providing students with as much subject choice as possible continues to be a significant and important focus as the MyMAP program grows and proactively responds to student learning needs.
We wish our students and teachers the very best as they engage with learning in new and challenging ways so that they can connect the knowledge and skills they develop to the world beyond ߺ College. We hope that their learning journey is one of challenge and success and one in which ultimately, your child grows and thrives.
As we begin this new year, I invite you to be in partnership with the College as we work together to support your child in helping them find their fullest potential.
You can find the College’s key child safeguarding and wellbeing policies, codes, and procedures in this handbook and in even greater detail on our College website. There are QR codes to take you to the most recent form of these documents, to help guide us all in understanding appropriate behaviours and what to do if you become aware of any areas of concern.
I look forward to working with you throughout the year.
May your 2024 be blessed with joy and hope.
