As you are aware, from Monday 14th to Thursday 17th we were to be having our EXEAT week. In recognition of the fact that most of us will likely be relatively contained to our homes again, we have developed a series of optional experiences for our students. In response to my letter last week, we have had dozens of staff, 20 alumni and around 20 parents offer to facilitate a session with our students on a huge variety of subjects. There are even some senior students offering sessions for their peers! We will have the program out to students at the start of next week, which will give them five days to decide which sessions they would like to attend.
Parents are more than welcome to sit in on the sessions with their kids! Workshops include: bonsai, working in Antarctica, sharing your lego addiction, females in the building industry, beekeeping, university information sessions, dance lessons, time management, hang gliding, working in Allied Health, Horrible History – the birth of modern medicine, sausage making, clearing landmines after a war, pilates, master planning at ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ College, Q&A with a QC, Black Lives Matter, Harry Potter trivia, how STEM will improve our teeth, cooking classes, working in the Art industry, volunteering with the CFA, meditation, armchair travel, bookclubs, policing in Victoria, young Marists, how to invest your money, public speaking, resilience, the historical reality of Hamilton the Musical and MORE...there’s literally something for everyone!
Last year, hundreds of ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ parents enjoyed our sessions with Adam Voigt. He’s back again, exclusively for us over the coming two weeks to help you build some new skills to support your teen. There’ll be a session for parents of Year 7-9 (Tuesday 8th, 6pm) and those of Yr 10-12 (Tuesday 15th at 6pm) and you can attend both sessions if you want! The registration flyers are found in this newsletter, including the link to register. Don’t miss out...Adam, who frequently appears on the morning shows and The Project, is always entertaining and knowledgeable.

The Marist Daily prayer app is a lovely resource that provides a short prayer and reading to guide your daily moments of reflection. On Wednesday (2 Sep), the prayer’s intention was for us here at ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ College! How delightful to think that we were in the wider Australian Marist community’s prayers at the moment. The concluding prayer on the app is always the same. We use it frequently with staff here at the school because it focuses on some of the key Marist values and dispositions that we’d all like to grow:
